It is with a profound sense of gratitude that I will be stepping down from my position as Executive Director of 33 Buckets.
Since joining the team in 2017, I have served the organization as an intern, volunteer, and eventually as its director and leader. Over these six years, 33 Buckets has given me the opportunity to spend a total of over 2 years abroad visiting and working in 35+ communities in the Cusco region of Peru.

Building a Local Team: Angelica's Story
In 2020, 33 Buckets recognized that building a highly effective, on-the-ground team would be crucial to our continued impact in the Cusco region of Peru. In early 2021, Daniel, our Executive Director, connected with Angelica Vergara Cusihuallpa, a recent graduate from her Environmental Engineering program. Working for a national agency at the time, Angelica explained her contract in the Ccorca District would end in a few months, drastically reducing the support available to water managers. While one door closed, another had opened! We presented the opportunity for Angelica to continue supporting the communities in Ccorca, but as a partner to 33 Buckets and our Team.

It’s no secret that water is vital to a prosperous life, yet nearly one in ten people do not have access to clean, safe water1. The global water crisis is one of the greatest challenges that we face in our modern day, affecting health and quality of life across the world. This crisis takes many different forms. In some communities, women and children walk for hours a day to retrieve water from a reliable source. In others, community members have no choice but to knowingly drink contaminated water.
